By installing or using Stone Identifier ("the app"), published by Wixpa, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. What the app does
The app analyses photographs you provide using an AI vision model and returns a probable identification together with reference information. It also includes an offline reference guide, a personal collection record, a comparison tool and a magnetism screening test.
2. Identifications are estimates, not determinations
This is the most important term here. Every identification is a probabilistic estimate produced by an AI model from photographs alone. It can be wrong, and it will sometimes be confidently wrong.
A photograph cannot establish density, specific gravity, refractive index, streak, hardness or chemical composition. Where the app reports such properties it is reporting values typical of the species it proposes, not measurements of your specimen. The app is provided for educational and informational purposes only.
You must not rely on an identification, an authenticity assessment or an estimated value as the sole basis for any purchase, sale, insurance, appraisal, valuation, safety or legal decision. For anything of consequence, obtain an independent opinion from a qualified gemmologist or laboratory.
3. Estimated values
Where the app shows an estimated value range it is indicative only. It reflects no specific market, grading, certification, condition assessment or date, and it is not an appraisal.
4. The magnetism test
The magnetism screening tool reads your phone's magnetometer — the sensor a compass uses — and reports the strength of the magnetic field around it. It is a screening test, not an identification. Sensor behaviour varies between handsets, and the reading should be treated as a comparison rather than a measurement.
5. Your responsibilities
- Only submit photographs you have the right to submit.
- Do not submit unlawful content, or content designed to manipulate or attack the service.
- Do not attempt to bypass the app's rate limits or its anonymous sign-in, decompile it in order to call our services directly, or use automated means to submit requests.
- Do not use the app to make representations to a third party about a specimen's identity, value or authenticity.
6. Fair use limits
Identifications are limited per installation — currently 30 per day and 6 per minute — so that the service remains available and affordable for everyone. The limits are counted on our server against the anonymous identifier described in the Privacy Policy. Reaching a limit is not a fault; it resets automatically, and the app tells you roughly when. We may change these numbers.
7. Reporting AI-generated content
Every result screen has a Report this result option. Please use it if an identification is wrong, offensive or unsafe. Reports open in your own email app so you can see exactly what is sent before you send it: the reason you picked, anything you wrote, the name the model returned and an internal reference for the result — no photograph. We read them and use them to improve the prompts and guardrails.
8. Your content
You keep all rights in the photographs and notes you create. They are stored on your device. The photographs you submit for identification are transmitted only to perform that analysis — to our own service and on to Google's Gemini API, whose handling of them is governed by the Gemini API terms — and we claim no ownership of them, do not store them on our servers and do not use them to train any model of ours.
Separately, the app sends usage events, crash reports and performance timings to Firebase. They describe how the app behaves, never the content of your photographs, notes or searches. What is collected, and what it is used for, is set out in full in the Privacy Policy.
9. Our content
The app, its reference guide text, its comparisons and its design are owned by Wixpa and protected by copyright. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial reference. You may not redistribute, resell or scrape the reference content.
10. Availability
Identification depends on a network connection and on third-party services. The offline features — the guide, your collection, search and comparison — continue to work without one. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may change or withdraw features.
11. Disclaimer and liability
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law, including any warranty of accuracy, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wixpa is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on an identification, an authenticity assessment or an estimated value — including financial loss on a purchase or sale. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory consumer rights.
12. No purchases
This version of the app contains no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no advertising. Every feature is available to every user.
13. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it, which deletes the data it stored on your device. We may suspend access to the identification service for an installation that abuses it.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and continued use after an update means you accept it.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, without regard to conflict of law rules.
